The 63rd Kachin Manau festival begins yesterday on 9 January 2011 in Myitkyina, Myanmar and will continue today. This 2 days celebration fest plays very important role in Kachin people which have been held in Kachin state every year since 1948 when Burma achieved independence from British rule.

Thousands of Kachin people and visitors from all over the world, especially Kachin people who are living in India and China, gather together every year on this special occasion but a close source to TripHole says that less people are joining this year as the fest is organized by Government for the very first time in the history, though Kachin Culture Central Committee used to organize this event.

During the fest, people enjoy dancing Manau traditional dance (occasionally audience can join sometime), traditional food, live music, Miss Manau contest in Kachin Manau fashion and many other traditional activities. Below video is the opening ceremony of 63rd Kachin Manau festival and hope you will enjoy watching. This could be your next memorable trip in South East Asia too.
